About our Studio
Don Loucks, OAA, MRAIC, CAHP, LEED AP, Architect, Urban Designer and Cultural Heritage Planner, has over 40 years of experience across Canada. As the managing principal of Metropolitan Design Limited, Don continues his commitment to cultural, economic and environmental sustainability. Cultural sustainability is demonstrated in his successful heritage conservation projects such as the John Street Roundhouse, the preliminary reuse concepts for Gooderham and Worts Historical District, Union Station’s Train Shed redevelopment for Go Transit and Ottawa’s Government Conference Centre. This work reflects his understanding of the balance that is needed between economics, the environment and preserving the stories of our communities’ history and their rich urban form through the conservation and adaptive reuse of our cultural heritage.
